This survey will be distributed by the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) to all ACD Fellows and trainees in order to understand perceptions about artificial intelligence in dermatology, including potential benefits and challenges.

The survey is endorsed by the ACD. It is a collaboration between the ACD, The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists, The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and researchers at the Centre for Eye Research Australia as well as the Australian Institute for Machine Learning and the University of Adelaide.  Comparable surveys will be distributed by the Colleges of Radiology and Ophthalmology to their Fellows to identify common themes for the specialties.

The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

Unless otherwise specified, the term artificial intelligence (AI) is used to describe the use of computer systems to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence. Applications of AI in medicine include image analysis for disease detection, diagnosis and triage.

Survey respondents will remain anonymous and no identifying information will be collected or disseminated.

The findings of this survey will be used to inform ACD policy and to guide the development of educational material for Fellows and trainees. Survey results may be included in scientific manuscripts and research presentations.  Approval of this project has been obtained from the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, Australia.
